But how does it actually happen? Where do you meet these people? How do you make the move from working for a company to being the company?
Neal Morris, founder and principal of Redmellon, a mission driven real estate development firm in New Orleans, provides a case study and offers suggestions on how others might more easily make "the leap". Along the way the group will discuss neighborhood development, LIHTC applications, historic preservation, negotiating with architects and investors, and probably a little bit about Netflix.

Neal Morris is founder and principal of Redmellon Restoration & Development, a mission driven real estate firm based in New Orleans. He received his B.A., M.B.A., and J.D. degrees from Tulane University. He is a Loeb Fellow at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. Neal has taught in the Masters of Sustainable Real Estate Development program at the Tulane University School of Architecture and lectured extensively on affordable housing and historic preservation. His firm, Redmellon Restoration and Development, is a mission-driven company that focuses on urban historic rehabilitation and affordable housing. In the past ten years Neal has developed over 1,000 units of affordable housing in Louisiana and Georgia. Neal’s Iberville Offsite Rehab project was the recipient of the 2014 HUD Secretary’s Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Congress of New Urbanism’s 2015 Global Grand Prize for Excellence in Urban Design.
