Rediscovering the College Town

Dhiru Thadani, Principal of Town Planning at Ayers/ Saint/Gross, Architects and Planners in Washington, DC, will share his expertise on strategies for rebuilding vibrant and sustainable environments around existing academic institutions.

Dhiru has maintained a diversified practice in architecture and urban design for more than 30 years, practicing in Asia, Europe, and North and Central America. He has been involved in urban retrofits, neighborhood revitalization, and infill densification, with a specialty in college campus design. His goal has been to create neighborhoods that are walkable, contain a range of housing, and are responsive to local culture, climate and context.

Dhiru was born in Bombay, India and moved to Washington, DC to attend the Catholic University of America, where he received his undergraduate and graduate education in architecture.
